REDO DAY October 8, 2014
If we take the time to fully know someone we will realize we are more alike than not!
REDO Day was an all day event that involved over 160 students and 40 adults. Students (and adults too) learned through a series of games and both large and small group discussion about "dropping the water line." Through the analogy of an iceberg students learned that most of us judge each other by only what we can see on the outside which is really only 10% of who we are. Like an iceberg we only see the tip above the waters surface. Most of it (90%) is hidden below the waterline. (See our iceberg picture below). It takes time to get to know the hidden 90% of a person before we can fully understand why they are the way they are.
In the end students realized through a final "cross the line" activity that they are not all that different from each other. The day ended with tears and hugs and a greater understanding and commitment to being nicer and stop judging others on only what we can see on the outside.
